Star Crossed: June 22, Moscone Center West
Today I shot Michelle Obama, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jon Bon Jovi. Not bad, huh?
All in a day’s work.
While the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service at the Moscone Center in San Francisco may not exactly be in the Daily Cal’s scope of coverage, we made sure to get someone in. And since the media relations people gave us trouble trying to get in more than one person, I offered to write as well as shoot. (I’m still trying work out how the article is going to work with over 5000 people in attendance, making it hard to find the local angle, but I’m confident I can make it work)
Again, I found myself star-struck because of the Daily Cal. I’m not sure if the feeling will go away with time, I’m not sure if I care – it reminds me how lucky I am to have these kinds of opportunities and to hope that one day I could get paid a decent wage for it.

A Foggy Day in SF: May 30
I’ve been living in Berkeley on my own for a little over a week. Few are here until school starts for most in a couple of weeks, so it’s been a little uneventful to say the least.
Being along is different, no hustle and bustle of the sorority house, no usual crowds on Sproul, I have to fend for my own food (AKA cooking, which I might say I’m not too shabby at). It’s been nice to have some time to myself. I also have my car up here, which is very different, but extremely liberating – no longer am I confined to my 5 block radius (finally!). Using my free time and new found mobility, I decided to take a photo trip into the city to shoot the Golden Gate Bridge.
Saturday wasn’t the most sunny of days (a little unnerving seeing as it’s June now, where is the sun?). However, I enjoyed the fog and the subtle color changes in the sky and water, and I hope whoever visits this site does as well. These photos were taken from the San Francisco Bay Marina near Fort Mason and Chrissy Field.

Van Morrison, Greek Theatre: May 02
There are certain assignment opportunities that make working for the Daily Cal so worthwhile. This past Saturday was one such occasion; I got to shoot Van Morrison in concert, and then stay and watch the whole show. Now, I’m by no means a Van Morrison aficionado, but wow, was the man good.
The only downside to the whole scenario was our shooting point, it wasn’t up at the stage before the pit. Had I known the situation before, I would have taken the extender. Unfortunately, the 70-200 wasn’t quite powerful enough, but I did manage to take a few decent photos, as well as this image that I really love.
All in all, great show, and a reminder to always be prepared for unforeseen obstacles.

Rugby, Semifinal Match vs. Army: May 01
I see I’ve yet again neglected my blog. No more.
Here are some shots I took at the Rugby Semifinals at Stanford, Cal vs. Army. We won this match, but unfortunately lost the Championship the next night. Shooting rugby has got to be one of the most exciting sports I’ve shot yet, it’s just so brutal. Great for pictures.

A Fresh Start
I created this blog as part of a class project, it’s been largely ignored since its creation. However, today is a new day, the rebirth of my blog. It will be used for its intended purpose: to display my photographs. Hopefully a new day will come for my website as well, but for now, this will do.
